Degustation banquet - A fabulous feast of gourmet food & wine in the Macedon Ranges

On our journey to the Macedon Ranges we will visit Gisborne Peak Winery, which is a labour of love for Bob and Barbara Nixon. From small beginnings as a hobby block in 1978, it has grown into the impressive vineyard that spreads out before the wide verandas of the picturesque cellar door. Here you will enjoy a tutored wine tasting where you are shown how to taste and what to look for in wine.

We then travel to Tonia Todman’s gorgeous “Highbank” which is a stunning 1848 bluestone home situated outside Kyneton in Victoria’s Macedon Ranges.  Many will know Tonia from television programs Good Morning Australia and Healthy Wealthy and Wise, where she presented craft, cooking, travel and lifestyle segments for many years before hosting her own program, Creative Living with Tonia Todman.  She is also a frequent contributor to the Melbourne Food & Wine Festival as a cooking presenter and is still broadcasting on radio 3BA and 2AY.  The progressive restoration of “Highbank” and her gardens is an ongoing labour of love and now Tonia and her partner Michael have opened their home for our Degustation Banquet.

On arrival at “Highbank” you will be welcomed with a flute of sparkling wine accompanied by a gourmet platter, followed by a degustation banquet of 6 dishes covering entrees, mains and desserts. Accompanied by a demi-tasse of specially chosen wines with each dish. Tea/coffee and petit fours will finish this magnificent feast. 

Our wine host will illustrate why certain varieties of wine match so brilliantly with specific flavours.

After lunch and a stroll around the gardens, we will travel back to Melbourne through the   magnificent Macedon Ranges arriving back between 5-5:30pm.
